Richard Branson plans to go to space before Jeff Bezos

If this schedule is respected, he would narrowly beat Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who told him he would go to space on July 20, aboard a rocket from his own company, Blue Origin.

Weather and technical checks

The window for the next test flight of the (ship) SpaceShipTwo Unity opens on July 11, subject to weather conditions and technical checks, specified Virgin Galactic in a press release.

Richard Branson will evaluate the private astronaut experience and will undergo the same training, preparation and flight as future astronauts of Virgin Galactic. The company will use their observations of their training and flight experience to improve travel for all future astronaut customers., she explained.

Broadcast online

The flight will also be broadcast live online by the company for the first time.

The gear used by Virgin Galactic is not a classic rocket, but a carrier plane which takes off from a runway then drops in altitude the spaceship hung under it, which ignites its engines until reaching space, then descends again while gliding.

Two pilots will be on board the carrier plane, and four people, including Richard Branson, in the spaceship called VSS Unity.

I truly believe that space belongs to all of us.
